Description

This site is exclusivly managed by Arctic Valley Ski Area and is NOT managed or assoiated with the Arctic Airwalkers, and this Site Guide is provided to assist pilots in making good decisions about flying at this site. All management of this site is done by Arctic Valley Ski Area, and all access is controlled by them. YOU MUST REGISTER WITH ARCTIC VALLEY TO USE THIS SITE.

This site is a speed rider and mini wing site used in the winter. There is an agreement between flyers and The Arctic Valley Ski Area that flyers can use the ski lifts and t-bar to get to summit and launch during certain hours of operation. 

 

USE OF THE AREA REQUIRES SIGNING THE ARCTIC VALLEY WAIVER

Weather Considerations

  • Pilots need to keep a careful watch on weather conditions, both on launch and in the air. Arctic Valley has the final say on allowable weather conditions.
  • There must be a minimum of 1 mile of visibility for flying to be open.
  • Winds must be below 10mpg for flying to be open.
  • Arctic Valley will monitor weather thoughout the day, and may close flyng at any time

Requirements

  • This is a privately managed site, and site requirements are set by Arctic Valley.
  • Pilots may only fly a wing that they have a minimum of a -2 rating for and must have a PS Special Skill for that wing.
  • This site is only appropriate for mini and speed wings.
  • FOR THE 2024 SEASON ONLY - Pilots with an M2 rating will be allowed to fly a speedwing

Hazards

This is an active ski area. There will be other users. It is imperative to maintain a minimum of 100ft clearence of other users.

There are a large variety of hazards to be aware of at this sight:

  • Chair lift with cables and towers
  • T-Bar with cables and towers
  • Base and summit stations for T-Bar and lifts
  • Lodge building

Maintain a minimum of 100ft of horizontal distance from any structures.

FLYING OVER LIFTS AND T-BAR IS FORBIDDEN
