Fall Flying at Arctic Valley

Sun, 09/18/2011

A large group of AAW members showed up on a bright fall day to fly Arctic Valley. We had only a loose plan on where we were going so we ended up with folks launching from several different locations. I was able to jump over the back of Gordon Lyon, connect to the sun baked south facing slopes of Eagle River Valley, and ultimately make it to the Harry Mac Center. It was sinky along the north face of Highland which made the glide back to the cars challenging. Rick and his canine passenger were the only ones that made it to the planned LZ (dirt berm by the cars), Laddie and Bob sqeaked into the woodlot and everyone else bailed out at either the Highland air strip or some other location. Altogether a good day of flying.
