Alaska is a unique place to fly with stunning views, rugged terrain, and often challenging conditions. This guide is a collection knowledge gained through the experience of many pilots flying in this area. While it's a good place to start, it's far from complete and it's no substitute for connecting with local pilots before flying these sites.
Several of our sites are highly regulated and it's imperative that you read and comply with the requirements in this guide when flying those sites. There are several other flying sites are not "official flying sites" but are included in this guide as reference information.
Remember, this guide covers only the basics so be sure to contact local pilots prior to flying these sites to get a full site orientation. The pilots listed as contacts for these sites are eager to share their knowledge.

Remote Backcountry Sites
Remote backcountry sites can be rarely flown and require high levels of pilot independence. Pilots should be comfortable assessing weather, launch and landing options on their own with little additional information. Consequences of misjudgment can be severe, and can result in serious injury or worse. It is highly recommended to reach out to the club to receive the most current information.
